MARG MAGOWAN'S LETTER CONCERNING HER REMOVAL FROM THE MINISTRY

2221

From: Edgar Massey

Date: Tue, 27 Feb, 2001

Hi Dale

I got this letter from my Uncle Bob Magowan and I am hoping you can somehow put my mind to ease that the way Margaret has been treated isn't as wrongly as it seems. According to this account it would appear that the decision to ask Margaret to leave the work was completely political. To preserve a power structure with an extremely dubious right to exist. But I am hoping this isn't the case. Several others in my family seem concerned and have expressed their concern to me so I hope I hope that what may be wrong can be put right as quickly as possible and that this doesn’t have to go any further. I had planed on sending this to Jim and Merlin as it seems they share some responsibility for what has happened but I haven't been able to get their email addresses as yet.

A little reflection of my own!! In Genesis we read of time coming when a people that at one time had worked and lived in harmony together suddenly could not understand each other any more. The reason we read for this tragedy was an earthly aim to build an earthly structure and make a claim that those at the top had their heads in heaven.

Dear Edgar,

Yours reached me here at Stettler last night where we have come to have the funeral service for Elmer Stewart, Harold's oldest brother.

Derek and I both read your Uncle Bob's letter that you included. We understand your concern, Edgar. We were told when beginning in the work about the wisdom of 2 John 12 and 3 John 13-14. Many things could be said but it wouldn't be appropriate to put it on paper. I do want to assure you though that the ministry in Western Canada and USA has not changed. The comforting thought to me is that our Convention and Special Meeting visiting workers in these last four years tell us the highlight of their rounds is the time in Alberta sensing the spirit and unity among our staff and friends. Above that, every Alberta worker coming back from their overseas field sees the picture clearly. Bernard Hall has been with us for a few months. He can without hesitation vouch for this.

We have interest in the missions. The number of people professing during the year and at conventions has not diminished. We have lovely young brothers and sisters entering the ministry, and have offers waiting.

I hope that these few lines will help to ease your mind, Edgar. Our kind wishes go your way.

Your brother, Willis
